Origin

Kain, Ultear and Zancrow meet a young Meldy.

Kain is a member of the Grimoire Heart Guild and its strongest group, the Seven Kin of Purgatory. Very little is known about his history except that he was one of the kin, along with Ultear and Zancrow, who found Meldy in a city they were destroying several years ago.

Creation

Kain was created by Hiro Mashima and his appearance is based on Mashima's newest assistant named Kain. His name also means eat in Filipino. He first appears in Fairy Tail volume 25 and episode 101. His Japanese voice actor is Ryou Sugisaki.

Personality

Kain seems to be nervous and scared and has a speaking disorder whereby he stutters at first, then says what he wants to at an incredibly fast rate. He also likes to eat as evident by his large stature and when he is shown eating five scoops of ice cream when Yomazu was talking about him and when he, Ultear and Zancrow discovered a young and lost Meldy. His clumsy nature also doesn't go unnoticed. For example, when Makarov attacked his guild's airship, he was the only one to have fallen and the only one who crash landed on Tenrou Island after Caprico sent the kin to the island. He's also shown to be a bit of an airhead as shown when he gave Lucy his voodoo doll to test his magic despite the fact that they were in a battle. However, despite these quirky traits, he does have a cruel side as he was beating Lucy repeatedly and was near killing her by trying to crush her head with his hand.

Powers & Abilities

Ushi no Koku Mairi

A Lost Magic, this magic allows Kain to place a person's hair strand on his voodoo doll ("Mr. Cursey") to manipulate his or her movements. He can also use the doll on himself and add different properties to it, giving him the same properties (i.e. changing the doll into iron). It's also been shown that this magic can be used in conjunction with other types of magic as demonstrated by Natsu who lit the doll's hand on fire (with Lucy under the doll's influence) causing Lucy's hand to set aflame without harming her.

Abilities: Increases offense Increases defense Increases physical strength Techniques Dodoskoi - With his iron hand, Kain palm thrusts his enemies Dadasu Turn - With his iron leg, Kain can kick an incoming attack back at the enemy Iron Crush (unofficial name) - After getting into the sky, Kain rushes down to crush his opponent
Light Doll	Description: By turning the doll into a light source, Kain is able to use light-based attacks. Abilities: Increases offense Techniques: Shining Dodoskoi - With his light-empowered palm, Kain releases a light blast from his palm on the enemy
Cotton Doll	Description: By turning the doll into cotton, Kain is able to jump at an extremely high height. Techniques: Unnamed Move - Kain transforms his doll into cotton to jump high in the sky where he then turns it into iron, giving him extra strength in his body slam attack.

Natsu, Lucy and Happy's Doll Spells	Description
Fire Dragon Slayer Doll	Description: Natsu uses his Dragon Slayer magic and ignites the doll's hand (with Lucy's hair), causing Lucy's hand to also go aflame which does no harm to her. Abilities: Increases offense Techniques: Lucy Fire - After being controlled by the doll and Natsu igniting her hand, Happy uses his max speed to make her whole body catch on fire, producing a strong, fire-enhanced attack.

Enhanced Strength - Kain has immense physical strength which is capable of breaking the earth with just one stomp. But with his doll's iron form, this further enhances his strength. It enabled him to plow through trees and defeat Lucy's three most strongest Celestial Spirits (Taurus, Sagittarius and Scorpio) without much effort.

Mr.Cursey - This is Kain's voodoo doll which is essential for his Magic.
