Kagato

In the Tenchi Muyo OAVs, Kagato was a corrupt space pirate who desired to take control of Tsunami but was killed by Tenchi. He was a student of Washu's at the Royal Space Academy about 5,000 years ago who assisted her in creating Ryoko and Ryo-ohki. When he learned of Tsunami's power, Kagato grew corrupt as he forced Washu to build his spaceship, the Soja, and imprisoned her inside its reverse world. He used Ryoko under his influence to try finding Tsunami's whereabouts, but she is later imprisoned on Earth by Yosho making Kagato the top fugitive in the universe as he has destroyed dozens of planets and captured individuals who knew of sacred artifacts that would allow him to further increase his power. Over 5,000 years later, Kagato comes to Earth and decides to abduct Ayeka to learn of Tsumani's whereabouts. When Tsunami attacks him later on, Kagato decides to try absorbing Tsunami's power, but to no avail as his plans were thwarted by Tenchi.

Kagato was a formidable opponent having a wide variety of abilities. He could generate the energy around him and form it into a sword or blasts. He could teleport himself to any area within a close range of his current location and regenerate any lost limbs that are severed off him. Manipulative abilities Kagato has are mentally generating illusions of himself or anyone he has had any contact with, turning enemies into stone, taking control of the mind of any enemy, and even absorbing the fighting power of an enemy that he desires to have energy from.

In the Tenchi Universe continuity, Kagato was a legendary Juraian knight who revolted against the ways that the Jurai energy should be used as he killed off many knights until he was defeated in battle by Yosho. Kagato trained in harnessing the full potential of the Jurai energy to the point where he maintained his physical age and grew more powerful than Yosho. When Ayeka left Jurai, Kagato re-emerged on Jurai and took the guise of Yosho by setting up Tenchi and the girls on crimes of treason. The Tenchi gang managed to get to Jurai where Kagato later met his demise against Tenchi.
