Welcome to the K anime discussion! K is a brand new, fall anime series. Unfortunately, I could not find a place where you can watch this show legally.

Plot

Ashinaka High School is known for its unique setting: the entire campus is built on an island. Yashiro Isana, aka Shiro, is having lunch with a cat on one of the school rooftops. After his lunch break, Shiro goes on an errand for his classmate Kukuri to prepare for their upcoming school festival, only to be chased by some intimidating-looking men.

Why You Should Try This

Visually this anime blows my mind, the architecture has so much detail that i have paused the video just to take it all in. the soundtrack/background music is great for setting the mood. The animation is great, especially in the skatebooarding and fight scenes. The characters are diverse and don't stick to the same act, which helps the plot along. I would say that people who liked Durarara and Baccano will definitely like this anime. It radiates the same vibe and thrill as those two great anime. Its slow at first with little back story to hook you in to see what connections the characters share but it does eventually picks up some pace and you learn about all these mysterious characters. I do find it necessary to repeat that the Animation of this anime is breath taking at times and the visuals are on the same level. The colors practically bleed from the screen, which can be annoying when the "blue" becomes overwhelming, but usually its a welcomed effect.

I am actually surprised that this show doesn't have a bigger following.

I am definitely doing to say that it will be one of the best anime for this season.

@GrimEversor:

I open these anime discussion threads in promoting several of these fall anime. The community is either busy or shy. Don't worry about it. I thank you for commenting. You're a new face I haven't seen.

I am definitely doing to say that it will be one of the best anime for this season.

For me, the fall anime that I enjoyed so far are Magi, Btooom!, and Robotic;Notes. I haven't tried this show yet. Interestingly enough, I'm helping with the K wiki pages.

Do you have a recommendation to why should people watch K?

What about you, Beelze17? Anything you would like to add to the recommendations.

Including my description above i would say that people who liked Durarara and Baccano will definitely like this anime. It radiates the same vibe and thrill as those two great anime. Its slow at first with little back story to hook you in to see what connections the characters share but it does eventually picks up some pace and you learn about all these mysterious characters. Other Anime that i like this Fall are Shin Sekai Yori (From The New World) and Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun (My Little Monster). The later is a weird pick for me since its a Shojo anime and i am a male. Its actually quite amusing to watch and kinda relaxing since its not hard to follow, its not great but it is funny. My other choice is one that i am in love with and more suited to my preferences. I want to watch Btooom! and Robotic;Notes but i am in the middle of my Uni exams and i find it hard to study whlist following several anime at once.

@GrimEversor:

You're not alone. I like some Shojo titles such as Vampire Knight and Chibi Vampire. I'll add your recommendation.

I tried the first three episodes. First episode is sleepy. The visuals are great, but the plot is hard to follow with some action. At the end, we finally know what the Homura Clan was after. Episode 2 and the ending credits had a lot of fan service. Neko is pretty much K's sex symbol. Episode 3 was mash up of various scenes. It's nice they give some exposition.

So far my favorite character is Kuroh because of how easily he was duped by Yashiro in episode 2 with the little sister lie, and his creepy admiration to his late master. I would have drop this anime on the first episode, but I continued to watch it because of the murder mystery and the wiki.

She's naked because she finds clothes to be restrictive

Kuroh's voice recorder has all of his late master's poetic quotes

episode 6 also reveals the history of Homura

This is one of those you have to bare with it as it sets it up and it gives us lots of stunningly visual scenery on the trip there.

@Beelze17:

I just finished episode 6. Got to see Tatara. I love Yuki Kaji's song, Circle of Friends, that Tatara sang.

Neko is weird since she hates wearing clothes and cellphones. I like Seri and Izumo's scene since it gives another side of Seri, a cute one.

@Aleasha:

I can see why people would drop this. It's beautiful yet devoid of plot. I do agree it gets better just like another show called Magi - The Labyrinth of Magic series. It had a sleepy first episode. I would have drop that one, but I kept going because Anna loved it, and she had similar tastes in shonen shows like me.

Feel free, you two, chat about K. You don't have to wait for me.

Thank you for informing me, my teammates.

@takashichea: I'm still waiting on episode 8 to hurry up and get here I think as the plot progresses we will have plenty more to discuss as each episode adds a little more in story because its true the first couple you walk away saying OK nice art work but what the heck is this show actually about besides a murder and an inability to remember if he committed it. But I like more and more characters the Humura clan turns out to not just be a group of hotheaded low life's but a group of people who seriously cared about there fallen friend and are trying to strike out at the one who took him from them.

With as many anime I have seen that if I hadn't made myself get through the first few episodes I would have missed out on a LOT of truly great anime I never quit on an anime until at least half of the episodes (about 10 or so for longer anime) and I did here and I'm glad as its only getting better.

I watched the first episode and I got the feeling it's target audience was for gay people. Anyone shine a light to this? Might continue watching it if it's not.

@Supreme Marvel:

What scenes did you assumed it was for g_y people? There is Neko fan service. Shiro and Kuroh's relationship is rocky. Shiro gets on Kuroh's nerves in episode 2 if you haven't watch that one, but it was just friendly insults.

@takashichea: I noticed there was a lot of males. The guy with the silver hair seemed attracted to the blue haired guy that saved him. That its audience was for gay people.

@Supreme Marvel:

Even there is a relationship like that, it doesn't mean its target audience is for gay folks. I'm trying to think of an example.

  • Take Black Butler, a lot of girls love the show and ship some characters. It doesn't mean the fans are gay.
  • Same goes for Magi since I see a lot of fans pair up Alibaba and Aladdin or Sinbad and Jafar. It doesn't mean it target audience is gay.

I don't want to offend anyone.

@takashichea: I don't mean to offend anyone either. I'm just saying that if it had guys kissing, it's not going to me thing to watch.

@Supreme Marvel:

Oh that's what you meant. There's no guys kissing. The only anime I know of is Shin Sekai Yori where there are two relationships, male and female.

@Supreme Marvel:

I'm sorry about jumping to conclusions.

@takashichea: When you said "g_y" I thought maybe he thinks I mean in the offensive way.

Post by Aleasha (1,430 posts) See mini bio Level 17

@Supreme Marvel: Like said there isn't any male/male kissing and it doesn't seem to be going that way I understand what you mean about the first episode and there does tend to elude to tender affections here and there but nothing that would turn you off the show if you where against it. You might give it a chance if your into the murder mystery type of show. I personally was drawn to it by the art work and as the story has developed I can't wait to see where they are going with this and how are they going to get there.
