If you thought the K-On! apartment building model was a little weird, just wait until you get a load of this-- the good folks at AkibaBlog photographed this beauty at WonFes 2010: 

On the one hand, I like the complete lack of cohesiveness of the cute music comedy K-On! on a death machine-- on the other hand, part of me wants to graffiti all over it to make it the more thematic So Ra No Wo To. If I had time I probably would do that photoshop, actually.


 Alas! I don't. Oh, you know what else I'd put on it? Hellsing. Yeahhh! Maybe even Fullmetal Alchemist and a couple of other "war-torn" shows.

What anime would you want to put on a tank?

It's official, K-On is going to take over the world with it's cuteness.

Does anyone know what type of tank it's modeled after?  Looks like a recent model with all the image ports on top

@Matte: If anything, the viewing ports indicate an older vehicle, as tanks now have sophisticated video systems. I am not 100% sure, but it sure looks like a Jagdtiger, a World War II era German self-propelled anti-tank weapon, a type of vehicle commonly known as a tank destroyer. Unlike regular tanks, tank destroyers typically have a very large artillery piece directly mounted on a reinforced heavy tank chassis. They pack far more firepower than the average tank, but it usually comes at the cost of not having a 360 degree turret. As tank designs evolved during the Cold War, the appeal of tank destroyers died out; those vehicles that are called tank destroyers today mostly use missiles instead of heavy guns to destroy their targets. All in all, only 88 Jagdtigers were ever built between their first appearance in 1944 and the end of the war, but they could destroy anything the Allies threw at them, when they were not suffering from frequent breakdowns.

@lolwut:  That is fascinating!  I was just throwing it out there but glad someone replied.  I had an inkling it was an older model with the stationary turret and machine gun turret, but the top viewing ports looked more like cameras to me and threw me off.  Nowadays there's so many counter tank weapons, it's just silly.  Apaches, UAVs, anti-tank missiles, etc.  Now I'm off to read up on my WW2 machines.
