Yes, it turns out that K-On! fans have begun seeking out a holy land, and they found this high school, and they keep filling up the parking lot with their itasha (anime-decorated cars). Or at least they did on this one day when the reporter was there.
Judging from the concert footage, the inspiration for the anime's club room being decked out with tea and snacks, and talk of a cafe, I'm guessing this was a particular event-- perhaps another part of the August concert event? The school clearly jumped on the anime's popularity. On the other hand, it's a school, so people coming every day to check the place out could be disruptive to the students, so maybe it's in everyone's best interest to designate some times when fans can do this sort of thing. Hmm.
Unrelatedly: There's also a really cute repeated-bowing moment at about 2:05.
But my favorite part of the video was the itasha. One guy has a rotating machine that shows off his UFO catcher dolls, and another drives around with a giant UFO catcher doll of...some blonde character, I couldn't see the outfit well enough to make a guess.
What do you think? Would you add it to the list of places to go if you went to Japan?
