The three remaining Divine Generals-- Cytomander, Guame, and Adiane --meet with Lord Genome to discuss the growing threat of the Dai Gurren-dan and the loss of Thymilph and the daiganzan. Adiane requests to be allowed to get revenge for Thymilph and off she goes.
Back on the battlefield, Simon forces Kittan to give over control of the Gurren Lagann and he annihilates the remaining ganmen around him. The group has renamed the daiganzan the Daigurren. Kittan chastises Simon for going it alone, and emphasizes teamwork. Simon blames himself for Kamina's death and returns to his room to sulk. Yoko attempts to stay strong as she normally did when her fellow villagers were sacrificed in the past, but she feels that the ten-fold kisses Kamina was supposed to return to her have become a ten-fold-sized hole in her heart.
Enemy ganmen are detected and Simon and Rossiu head out in the Gurren-Lagann. However, the mech and Simon are too unstable, and the Lagann eventually detatches itself and hops into a nearby ravine, taking Simon with it. Simon wakes up and explores the ravine, witnessing a beastman abandoning a box. He looks at the box and notices that his Core Drill key can open it, which he does. Inside he finds a beautiful young girl sleeping amongst flowers.
The girl awakes and is confused and amused by the rain and mud around her, as though she's never experienced them. She asks Simon why he is like her-- lacking in fangs or a tail. Simon says that he's a human, and she asks was a human is, and he fails to explain it to her. She introduces herself as Nia and a gunmen appears and attacks.
They hop into the Lagann, which protects them, but Simon is still incapable of making it attack properly. The two prepare to flee when Yoko appears and shoots the ganmen, which Kittan then destroys. Nia boards the Daigurren and is intrigued by all of the humans around her, and confused as to why she was abandoned in a box, although she remembers her father getting angry when she asked about her existence.
Adiane appears to attack the Daigurren, and while Rossiu attempts to get the Gurren ready, Simon slumps next to the Lagann. Nia throws herself inbetween Adiane and the Daigurren and demands that Adiane stop attacking-- by her authority as the daughter of Lord Genome, the Spiral King.
