I would clarify though, getting shot had nothing to do with his behavior. He was already like that well before then, in fact he is the one who killed his adoptive parents which is why his sister shot him in the first place. I like this show because the drama basically stems from the fact that Tenma did what was morally right despite his bosses orders and not only does it screw him over, cost him his marriage, but it also lets a rampaging serial killer loose on the world. "
" He was shot in the head as a boy and saved by tenma. That what was started him down the path of "evil" i believe that might have something to do with it. "Wait, but he was shot in the head after murdering his adopted family... I think he was quite a ways down that road before the bullet got there.
I know this is an old post, but I just found this. His pointing to his head is also a nod the Book of Revelations, because Johan runs parallel to the anti-christ figure and there are a lot of revelations allusions. ("And I saw a beast rise up out of the sea...") In this case, Johan, like the Beast from Revelations, was resurrected after being pierced in the head and was mistaken for a monster with several heads.
This Christmas themed romantic comedy does a fantastic job of juggling love stories and ultimately presents a modern Christmas classic.
