He then uses his flesh bud to brainwash him.

Jean Pierre Polnareff was created by Hirohiko Araki, the author and illustrator of series, as a major character of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure's third arc, Stardust Crusaders. His name is a reference to the racer French Jean-Pierre Jarier and the French musician Michael Polnareff.

Character Evolution

Polnareff is a tall, muscular man with silver hair that stands straight up on his head. During Part 3, he wears a black sleeveless top with two black bands on his arm, a white pair of pants and a pair of black shoes. He also wears two half heart earrings and two pouches near the sides of his pants.

During Part 5, Polnareff mainly uses the same outfit. He lost his right eye and both of his legs during his battle with Diavolo and his Stand King Crimson. He uses a wheelchair for movement and wears an eye-patch.

Polnareff is a jovial man who has no problem sharing his feelings with his friends. He also holds a deep sense of honor within him even near death. However, he is also rash and impulsive especially when his feelings are strong and is willing to give everything in order to avenge his friends. This often causes him to overestimate his own capabilities leading for those around him to be hurt trying to protect him.

Mohammed Avdol- Although they were originally enemies, Polnareff shows his respect for Avdol and even tries to avenge him when he his nearly killed by Dio’s servants.

Iggy- Initially, Polnareff disliked Iggy’s attitude and attacked him during their first meeting. However, the two eventually become good allies who even risk their lives for one another.

Joseph Joestar- Polnareff is stated to have a great deal of respect for Joseph due to the amount of time they traveled together.

Jotaro Kujo- Polnareff is mainly friendly towards Jotaro although he hardly returns the friendliness.

Story Arcs

Stardust Crusaders

After Jotaro, Avdol, Joseph and Kakyoin arrive in Hong Kong to take a boat, Polnareff intercepts them at a restaurant in order to get a translation of the menu. He soon reveals himself to be the next enemy and challenges Avdol to a fight. He tells Avdol that he will defeat him with his own power and even gives him an advantage when he moves the fight to an open space. Although he tried to overwhelm Avdol with his relentless sword jabs, he is soon hit by a statue of Avdol’s Stand Magician Red that he had made in order to mock him. The hit proves ineffective against Polnareff as his Stand Silver Chariot’s armor mitigates most of the damage while drastically increasing his speed. Despite the overwhelming advantage Polnareff had against Avdol, he was quickly knocked out by an attack Avdol had sent underground. Polnareff is then offered a knife by Avdol to prevent him from burning to death. After a few moments, he decides to put the knife down and lay on the ground to die as his punishment for being arrogant. Avdol then withdraws his fire from Polnareff and Jotaro removes his flesh bud. While at the port to find a boat, Polnareff alerts the group for his quest to find the man with two right hands that killed his sister Sherry.

While travelling to Cairo, the group encounters many of Dio’s servants. Polnareff falls for many of the traps that the enemy has set for them. This nearly cost the life of his friend Avdol who tried to save him during their battle with Hol Horse and his Stand the Emperor and the man who killed his sister J. Geil and his Stand the Hanged Man. Polnareff defeats many of this opponents through a combination of his own skill and help from his allies. He is eventually relived to find out that Avdol survived his encounter in Calcutta and welcomes him back to the group. On their way to Cairo, the Speedwagon Foundation eventually brings the group their last ally; a dog named Iggy and his Stand the Fool. Polnareff quickly gets into a fight with Iggy after the dog attacked him but is quickly overpowered by his Stands ability to control sand. However, Iggy soon proves to be an ally they can rely on after their fight with N’Doul and the group continues to Cairo to find Dio’s mansion.

After arriving at Dio’s mansion, Joseph, Jotaro, and Kakyoin are quickly separated from the rest of the group by Terence T. D’Arby. After ten minutes, Polnareff, Avdol and Iggy continue inside the mention and quickly defeat the Stand User Kenny G. However, they are soon ambushed by Vanilla Ice and his Stand Cream who instantly erases Avdol with his ability Void. During their fight with Vanilla Ice, Iggy dies from exhaustion from trying to constantly save Polnareff from being devoured. Polnareff soon defeats Vanilla Ice by throwing him out into the sun where he breaks apart. After tending to his injuries, Polnareff meets Dio on the stairwell and he uses his Stand the World to mess with Polnareff’s mind. When Polnareff begins to engage Dio, Jotaro, Kakyoin and Joseph arrive through a hole in the wall which causes Dio to retreat. The group begins to chase after him using Nukesaku as their guide.

After his disagreeing with Joseph’s strategy of retreating, he leaves the group in order to find and chase down Dio. He is soon joined by Jotaro who appears to be worried about him. Polnareff then saves Jotaro from being killed by Dio while he was playing dead but he is soon injured in return. Jotaro then saves him in return by attracting Dio’s attention. After a long battle, Jotaro manages to defeat Dio. Polnareff then bids Joseph and Jotaro farewell as he returns to France.

Vento Aureo

Prior to the events of Vento Aureo, Polnareff and Jotaro were traking the location of the man who sold the Stand Arrows Diavolo. After learning his identity, Polnareff attempted to kill him but was quickly overpowered by Diavolo’s stand King Crimson and almost killed. He managed to survive this encounter but he lose both of his legs and his right eye. While he lived out in seclusion, he accidentally discovered the Requiem of Stands that was pierced by the arrow. He then patiently waited for someone who desired to stop Diavolo. Years later, he stumbles upon the Buccellati’s gang who is trying to uncover the identity of their boss Diavolo. He then requests for them to meet him in the Coliseum.

While moving towards Polnareff’s location, Buccellati unknowingly brings Diavolo directly to him. Diavolo then quickly kills him before he can become a bigger problem. However, Polnareff pierces his Stand with the arrow upon his death causing it to become mindless and live on even after his death. After using Silver Chariot Requiem’s Sleeping Slave ability, Polnareff soul switches with the turtle Coco Jumbo. He uses this to communicate with Giorno, Trish Buccellati and Mista even after his body dies. After Girono defeats Diavolo and the souls return to their original bodies, his soul remains inside Coco Jumbo due to the power of its Stand. He then works for the Italian mafia group Passione which is now led by Giorno Giovanna.
