It walks like a model, and has big eyes, a small nose, and a cute smile, according to this report. It also looks like a twelve year old, at least in a couple of these photos. The cute but apparently nameless robot debuted at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology's fair in Ibaraki today. She has a 90-pound battery that gives her about 20 minutes of use time when fully charged.
It's unclear exactly what the robot can do besides walk and make some cute facial expressions, but apparently on the 23 she'll appear at Japan Fashion Week, and the makes are hoping that within a year they can sell her as a “walking mannequin” for department stores.
I tend to go to department stores on sale days when they're crowded, so I think a walking mannequin might be more trouble than it'd be worth (not to mention somewhat creepy), but I guess if these were Akihabara department stores it might tie in to the Electric Town theme.
