In quite possibly the weirdest news to cross my desk recently (and that's a shocker) I stumbled upon discussions of how Picasso apparently had a secret love of girl on octopus action...

I know, right?!?

Well, not just octopus porn, but a wide swath of Japanese erotic paintings. The Picasso Museum of Barcelona has opened an exhibit to this concept, and pulled out 19 of his personal collection of erotic images, and are showcasing them alongside 27 of his own works... for the sake of comparison. So awesome...

Yup, he certainly had that fetish. Not only the Impressionists were influenced by Japanese art, but also early 20th century artists from the surrealist school.

I was wondering what Picasso had to do with tentacles and girls. Personally, I think getting molested by an octopus is really creepy, but hey who am I to judge Picasso for his taste?  I really would like to see how these paintings influenced his art though. It's interesting to note that tentacle sex goes way back in Japanese art and culture.

@Lan: Yeah, we were just talking about that as we recorded the podcast. Though, unfortunately I couldn't find any of the examples they were talking about to post them with the article (the works inspired by.)

well, we certainly see where the concept of tentacles in manga and amine came from. I really don't see where this is at all arousing.

One of the most awesome pieces of artwork ever, I remember seeing that years. One of the things that peaked my interest in Hentai.

It warms my heart knowing that even back then, there were lovers of tentacle rape.

Ah "The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife" quite a famous example of the ukiyo-e style woodcuts. Although I have to say I prefer Hokusai's depictions of nature and landscapes. i.e. his most famous work "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" for instance instead of the shunga peices he made.
