A picture may be worth a thousands words, but how useful is that if those words are in a different language. Japan Probe has been playing with the service, MyGengo, as an alternative to those cigar smoking fat cats and those evil looking computers. The service apparently lets you submit works to be translated online, pay via PayPal, and poof... in a couple of hours you totally have a professional translation.

The service works at 5 cents a word, and covers English, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, and Spanish. You know, unless you really want to pay those fat cats with their absurdly large cigars. You can check out their website here.

@cfatalis: "English, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, and Spanish," says the article.

Without having looked at it myself, I'd guess it could be anything from an essay to a business document to a blog post. They may have a minimum charge though.

let me count 5 cents per word, a heavy nds rpg had something around 18000 word

0.05 times with 18000 =900 dollar

@cfatalis: ouch. And you'd have to have it in text format. The translation submission form has them translate the text you supply, not a medium containing text.

you will apreciate those fan translation more now, and they still have to hack the game to extract the script, and put it back in making adjustments, and also tothe words edit  fit the context
now don't complaint if you see how company take too long to bring out games

Hi @John_Martone   .  Just to clarify, you can also upload PDF and Word documents which the system will parse for the text to translate.  The resulting output will still be just text, but we are working on improving the system to handle OCR-related / required input.

Cheers,
