Japan Probe has a clip of Miss Universe Japan 2009, Emiri Miyasaka, doing an English-language interview for the competition. Her English isn't too bad, but she has a lot of trouble with her Ls (as do many Japanese). Perhaps in order to avoid the traditional "Engrish" sound, she instead avoids making any L sounds...
...which kind of makes her sound like this:
...In other words, not so much "Engrish" as..."Engwish"? I will say, though, that her wish to become a fish is kinda cute.
You may already remember Miyasaka for her unique take on the kimono. I will say, though, she looks a lot more Japanese in the kimono than in this video, at least to me...maybe it's the tan?
