Ohh, bad, bad, BAD TV Asahi! No cookies for you! Japan Probe reports that the TV network permitted one of its variety programs, Variety: Rumor Verification, (or rather, Shoubo Seiri Variety Uso Buster) to create fake blogs to cite as sources of information for the show. V:RF investigated such hot topics as whether the word “news” is, in fact, an acronym for North, East, West, South, and whether the zodiac's boar is usually a pig in Chinese and Korean traditions.
The show's official site already shows an apology message, in which they admit to having done it and claim that it was due to difficulty getting in touch with the actual source. There is no word on whether the network will make any moves (like cancelling or suspending the show) to further show remorse, so I'm guessing they won't.
