You may remember those awesome Japanese warrior boxer briefs that I posted a while back. Japan Today has more information on the line, which comes from a company called Rogin Inc, who has released ten different versions of the underwear. Apparently some of them are even based on specific armor, like 16h century samurai leader Oda Nobunaga's.

On top of that, the company has sold almost 10,000 pairs-- even though the boxers cost ¥9,240, about $94 USD. Apparently it's proving to be a really popular gift item from girlfriends and wives...though they also talked to a girl who was thinking about buying them for her dad. (Am I the only one weirded out by that? Who buys undergarments for their parents?)

I also love the description that the article offers of Sengoku Basara, “which features fictitious good-looking samurai warriors.” Since the game actually features samurai warriors who really did exist (including Nobunaga, Date Masamune, Uesugi Kenshin, etc), I prefer to read that as “fictitious-LY good-looking samurai warriors.”

Anyway, back to the topic at hand, hopefully the popularity of the item will cause them to offer a cheaper version as well, maybe more in the $25-30 range. I'd be first in line to import. (Image above taken from what I think is the official blog for the company.)
