While I was in the Bay Area I had lunch with a bunch of other Whiskey Media employees, and Jeff from Giant Bomb and I swapped stories about Japanese bathrooms to the general amusement of those around us.
Among the things I mentioned: the fact that in Japan, the highest-end western-style toilets often feature a button that makes loud flushing noises, designed to hide whatever it is you're doing on the pot. The Japanese are very fussy about their privacy in restrooms; the stall doors always go down all the way down to the floor, too-- whether they're western-style seat toilets or Japanese style squat toilets.
Anyway! The reason I thought to talk about it is because TOKYOMANGO reported on this unique new cell phone strap designed for the ladies. Shaped like a rose, it-- like the high-end toilets --makes loud flushing noises to cover up your potty antics in the event that you stumble upon a lesser toilet.
Oh, Japan, what won't you think of next?
