2channel Moves to Singapore?

2channel-- Japan's most popular message boards, and (along with 2chan, a different site in spite of the similar name) the inspiration for the English-language site 4chan (often not safe for work) –has reportedly been sold to a Singapore-based company called Packet Monsters, Inc.


It seems unlikely that the move will have any significant effect on the site's visitors or content, but it may afford them some legal protection for when some of the users get out of hand...though apparently Japan's conspiracy theorists are suggesting that it's really just a tax evasion scheme.
