It’s M here doing a short aside on a day off to myself, Well I know Deadman wonderland isn’t finished but I decided to take a break from that quest and read Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaete mo Omaera ga Warui! or in English, It’s Not My Fault That I’m Not Popular! Clearly an up and comer for most redundant yet non-describe title I have ever seen. This comedy series brought to me from the loving hands of square Enix of all places and seems like a perfect stress less breather.

As a comedy strictly Watashi ga Motenai is not that great, while it is funny and has made me laugh its very uneventful, sectioned off into small unrelated stories it’s nothing more than a complete timewaster for mild and easy entertainment. It’s concept while somewhat original isn’t really used in original ways nor is it as insightful or meaningful as NHK which took that concept to a much more heartfelt place.

However that’s not totally damning thing. There is an intrinsic pleasure to reading a nice calm manga that’s mildly funny and a stress less time waster. Uninspired yes, but a pleasant undertaking. It keeps interesting enough to keep going without being invested enough to need to burn through it. During Highschool I lived in a small town where our high school serviced the towns near us, so while I spent every weekend with Friends my weekends, with them being in nearby towns, were spent reading quite a bit of manga, I found myself oddly enjoying simple relaxing time suck mangas like this. If you’re looking for a time waster it’s a pretty decent one and at least it’s a bit more original in its concept then the average.

While I did enjoy my time, and it did relax me quite a bit Watashi ga Motenai is never going to be someone’s favorite manga. It’s not very interesting and its humor while not terrible is not distinctly clever in any way. Watashi ga Motenai volume one earns a simple 3 Vibrators for Christmas out of 5.
