Hibiki and the unconscious Ishtar return to Earth, and Hibiki turns in the story. Little does he know that he's followed by Lord Feff, a commander of the forces of the invaders, which are called the Marduk.
Ishtar wakes up in Hibiki's apartment, where she doesn't understand his language, and vice versa, though they both speak Zentradi. Hibiki fits Ishtar with a translator, and he tells her about Earth. As they speak, the Macross discharges energy again, and Ishtar explains to her people it's called the Light of the Alus. When Hibiki turns on the news, he learns the military is covering up what really happened in the battle.
Ishtar wanders around the city, seeking the Light of the Alus, and Hibiki catches up with her in the culture park. They go to Hibiki's transgender friend Mash, who runs a beauty salon, to get Ishtar a makeover. Hibiki and Ishtar return to the Culture Park, and he gives her a tour. While in the park, Feff's forces attack, demanding that Ishtar return. She refuses, confusing Feff.
