Let me tell you... Tony Stark's hair has never been more well-coiffed.
Let me tell you... Tony Stark's hair has never been more well-coiffed.

Even though I’ve known about Marvel Anime for a while, it’s still mighty surreal  to see Iron Man reinterpreted by Madhouse.  A lot of you lunatics were probably first introduced to “shellhead” only a couple years because of the movie, but I’ve grown up with this character.  Seeing him rendered  by the studio that brought me DEATH NOTE is, as I said... very surreal.  The trailer’s been out there for a while, but Otaku Revolution  just recently got a sneak peak of the show. They weren’t particularly impressed with the first episode, but I’m going to reserve judgment until the show starts playing in America on G4 next year.  Why don't you lunatics take a look at these pics and make your own judgment?

And then here's the opener, submitted for your highly-discriminating approval...

The timing of this is a quite apropos, no? I literally just editorialized  about the symbiosis between American and Japanese pop culture forged on the common ground of anime. These kind of direct crossovers have been increasing frequency lately (comics legend Stan Lee just put out HEROMAN and  ULTIMO.)  As a fan of both these areas of entertainment, the prospect of a more frequent rate of exchange between the two is pretty exciting. Actually, I hope this kind of things will get both fanbases to reach out to each other's pools of content - - some might act like they're oil and water, but they have a lot more in common than most fans want to admit.

I don't like it beacuse of its CGI animations fight scene

Sadly the first episode of Ironman the anime was half good and half bad. It has what makes Ironman good but  with Stack going to Japan but the look is far to strange and CG fights look terrible. I'll try and see if it gets better but I can't really see it going anywhere after this.

I think that this could be one of the few animes that catch on big on US tv if they sell it right. But it all hindges on them pick the right Tony Stark, he needs to be a D bag but likeable at the same time.

Why does Tony Stark have Rod Blagojevich's hair? I'm not looking to watch this any time soon. Too many other series I'm interested in trying. I'm willing to give the series a shot with the first episode, but I'm not going out of my way.

They are abusing the CG graphics in this. They play a role, but that's too much. Madhouse does superb animation. I don't see why they leaned so heavily to CG. That dark Ironman looks ridiculous.

I'm not even going to try to judge based upon the story since I haven't watched it. It just gives me a pseudo-anime vibe.
Kingdom Hearts managed to seamlessly merge the worlds of US animation and anime. These Marvel Animes and series such as Heroman just appear to be trying too hard.

Still, this looks worlds better than that Wolverine anime they have planned.

@FoxxFireArt:  I think the reason why they used CG was that they didn't want to spend the time to animate the fights but as you can see its pretty ugly.

I know the reason why, but that's why it's lazy. Look at One Piece and the new ship they have called the Thousand Sunny. A lot of the time in certain shots the Sunny is actually a computer generated image, but it was done in such a way that it looks similar to the regular animated version. It doesn't stand out like a sore thumb.

When you look at the way the hips are arranged in the picture of that Dark Iron Man. It doesn't look as if a person could wear that. The legs are so disjointed. It looks like a baby wearing a diaper.
It's the same with the elbow joints. Maybe I'm mistaken and that is just a robot and not a suit of armor. That doesn't makeup for how silly it looks and stands out.

It sort of reminds me of a mistake amateurs make when drawing Iron Man. They draw Iron Man the very same size as Tony or other humans around him. They forget that this is a suit. It goes around the body and should be slightly more bulky and tall than the person wearing it.

@zombiepie:
Well, look at it. I'm rather shocked that the same studio that made Death Note couldn't pull off a less goofy looking Tony. He doesn't need the Iron Man helmet. He has his hair.

Really!  it's anime,  I know it's based on an american property but it's anime crazy hair goes with the territory.

I think your being to hard on the CGI, it's always out of place in anime.

I'm not being too hard on it. The quality of CG animation is done so half assed. You can use that sort of CG on vehicles or cityscapes, but not for your lead character. You use CG on vehicles so you can spend more time on your lead's animation.
It's heavily criticized in comics when the art changes suddenly within a single comic, why not hold an anime to the same standard? It looks as if they didn't even want to try to make the computer Iron Man look remotely similar to the rest of the characters.

About the hair. Look in the background. The people back there don't have the the ridiculous hair. It's that fact that makes Tony look even more silly. Just saying, "Well, it's an anime." isn't an excuse. Look at One Piece. It's a very wild style anime, but the lead character Luffy doesn't have a really wild style hair.

Rod Blagojevich is NOT Iron Man...but IS guilty.

Probably a case of better safe than sorry.

 Much Better.

@zombiepie: Well... people HAVE being saying for years that Blago's basically a living cartoon character.

@Tom_Pinchuk:  Are you saying you would watch an anime about the Blagojevich corruption scandal from the perspective of his hair?

@zombiepie: Ha! That'd be like that novel Joe Ezterhas wrote about Clinton's impeachment scandal that was told from the perspective of Slick Willy's penis.

I didn't like it cause this version of Tony isn't one we comic fans know and love

most all anime now is "cg" it's not even traditionally drawn anymore most anime is animated on pc's and colored in using saved palate washes. I think Disney had a special about 10 years ago showing how they've moved onto this technology and they're years behind japanese animators. I mean CGI was used in COWBOY BEBOP and that wasn't the first anime that used it.

It lowers production time and money spent on production. anime studios don't make a lot of money and the animators are paid shit. It's one of the main reasons why I never got into professional drawing or animation.

Iron Man: Armored Adventures had better CG.

Interesting that it appears their using the likeness of the actors of the films.  Does that mean they'll reprise their roles in the animation?
