Even though I’ve known about Marvel Anime for a while, it’s still mighty surreal to see Iron Man reinterpreted by Madhouse. A lot of you lunatics were probably first introduced to “shellhead” only a couple years because of the movie, but I’ve grown up with this character. Seeing him rendered by the studio that brought me DEATH NOTE is, as I said... very surreal. The trailer’s been out there for a while, but Otaku Revolution just recently got a sneak peak of the show. They weren’t particularly impressed with the first episode, but I’m going to reserve judgment until the show starts playing in America on G4 next year. Why don't you lunatics take a look at these pics and make your own judgment?
And then here's the opener, submitted for your highly-discriminating approval...
The timing of this is a quite apropos, no? I literally just editorialized about the symbiosis between American and Japanese pop culture forged on the common ground of anime. These kind of direct crossovers have been increasing frequency lately (comics legend Stan Lee just put out HEROMAN and ULTIMO.) As a fan of both these areas of entertainment, the prospect of a more frequent rate of exchange between the two is pretty exciting. Actually, I hope this kind of things will get both fanbases to reach out to each other's pools of content - - some might act like they're oil and water, but they have a lot more in common than most fans want to admit.
