After having lost the ESB to Class A at the last second, Class F finds that their cardboard boxes have been replaced with sandwich boards as the spirits of the classmates start to break down for one reason or another.
Akihisa begs the principal to grant him another battle with Class A, and with help from Shouko he is able to convince her to grant them permission for a special ESB where Akihisa will battle Shouko one-on-one in a simple quiz show in school. They won't be able to win Class A's room, but the winner will be granted "one wish." Shouko reveals that her wish is to get the marriage contract that Yuuji hid awhile ago, so Yuuji yells at Akihisa to win the game or his life will be over.
As the battle comes down to the final question, the students notice that it is a repeat of the question Shouko got wrong before: the year the Taika Reforms were enacted. As both contestants answer the question, Shouko ends up getting it wrong again. Akihisa wins his wish: to let Mizuki Himeji retake the placement exam so she can test into Class A, while Shouko reveals that someone else gave her the marriage contract anyway.
The next day, Mizuki reveals that she flunked the new placement exam on purpose so she could get back into Class F, while Shouko and Yuuji's marriage contract was rejected because they weren't of legal age yet. Akihisa ends up running to the principal's office, screaming the whole way, as he thinks that the principal shouldn't have kept Mizuki in Class F. The rest of the main cast shows up to call Akihisa an idiot for not understanding the real reason why she did what she did.
