Idaki Hitara

Origin

Idaki Hitara was a teacher in Japan and lived with his daughter Yuki, who was a beautiful television actress. After the Great Tokyo Earthquake, they are able to survive and live out of a refugee camp that was built in the school that he worked in. While he remained unharmed mostly from the earthquake, his daughter was gravely injured and disfigured in the process of the earthquake. Yuki becomes traumatized, believing that her father hates her for her ugly body and stabs him in the eye with a fork. Hitara remains calm as he tries to help his daughter, stating that he loves her as he pulls the fork and his eye from his face.

When he goes outside to get medical attention for his injury, he forgets his cigarette lighter as Yuki throws gasoline over her bed and immolates herself. The room explodes as people wonder what happened and Hitara takes blame for the incident, knowing he could have done more as a teacher and her father. It is also at this time that he dons a visor and a pair of headphones that he says allows him to continue to communicate with his daughter. Because he takes credit for the explosion, he is sent to Deadman Wonderland. It is unknown how he ended up in Sector G or how his powers as a deadman came to be known.
