A young girl named Sophie goes on a journey to find the moving castle of Howl, a well-known wizard, in order to lift a curse in the anime film adaptation of the novel of the same name written by Diana Wynne Jones.
Sophie is a shy 18-year-old girl who works in her father's hat shop. One day she is attacked by soldiers and saved by Howl, a famous wizard who then disappears. Unfortunately this allows the Witch of the Waste to become aware of Sophie, and the witch curses Sophie with the appearance of a 90-year-old woman. Sophie attempts to locate Howl and his moving castle in order to ask him to free her from the curse.
