A figure passes through the gates. It's an older Naruto, who has returned from a long training journey with Jiraiya. Naruto Uzumaki is back!
Summary
Opening Theme-
"Hero's Come Back!!" by nobodyknows
Naruto and Sakura are rushing through painstakingly carved hallways and checking door looking for someone. A sudden explosion draws there attention and Sakura is the first to arrive in the clearing when a voice from above calls out, "Sakura, huh?". Naruto runs into the sunlight as Sakura sees Sasuke standing before them. Naruto demands to know why years before Sasuke let him live. He replies it was because he didn't want to use his brother's methods to achieve power. He let Naruto live on a passing whim. Suddenly, Sasuke is before Naruto using incredible speed. Before anyone can react, Sasuke pulls out a sword from his belt and moves to kill Naruto this time.
Deep inside Naruto, the Nine-tails talks to Naruto from behind his cage. He tempts Naruto to break the seal and take his power so they can defeat Sasuke. Before Naruto can reach out, Sasuke is inside this realm. He can see the Fox and now he understands the power Naruto had when they last fought. To his surprise, the Nine-tails knows of the Sharingan and the Uchiha Clan. The Nine-tails tells Sasuke his chakra reminds him of Madara Uchiha from ages ago. Sasuke reaches out and destroys this image of the Nine-tails. He has never heard of that person.
Flashing backward to the Hidden Leaf Village in the Land of Fire, several young ninja are chasing after some small demon. Chasing after this creature the three cause a commotion in the city. Passing by Ichiraku Ramen, the ninjas crash into the owner Teuchi making a delivery. He hollers after Naruto, but realizes it's Konohamaru, the grandson of the Third Hokage, with his friends Moegi and Udon. Moegi and Udon have cornered the creature in a dark alley. She signals Konohamaru who leaps form behind the wall and captures a cat. The very same cat Naruto and his Team 7 was hired to capture many years ago, and with the same outcome. Konohamaru can understand why the cat keeps running away and says as much. Tsunade and Iruka only look on. Once the lady is gone with her cat. Ebisu chides them for taking so long on such a simple mission. Kohohamaru feels he can't show his real strength and asks for a better mission. Tsunade tells him that all he will be getting are D Rank missions, and he sits on the floor to protest. He proclaims he'll be the Seventh Hokage. Confused, Tsunade asks why not the Sixth, and he answers it's because Naruto will be the Sixth. Hearing that name gets a reaction out of all who are preset.
Outside the city building, Konohamaru, Meogi, and Udon reminisce about Naruto, wondering when he'll be back. Back in the Hokage's office, Tsunane, Shizune, and Iruka they talk about how Konohamaru has become another Naruto for the village, and Iruka remembers Naruto's promise to get stronger. Shizune mentions that Naruto should be arriving back with Jiraiya soon. At the same time, Naruto has returned home with Jiraiya. Passing the gate watchmen Izumo and Kotetsu, they instantly recognize him. Somewhere in the roads of the Hidden Leaf Village, Sakura Haruno is walking when she's calls after by Konohamaru. He asks where she's going and she tells him to the main gate to get the pedestrian log for Tsunade. She asks if he'd like to join her.
Naruto is walking the roads when he realizes he's been gone for two and a half years. One street over, Sakura and listening to the story of catching the cat. She tells him she had a mission just like that once, and he asks if she's heard anything about Naruto but she hasn't heard a thing.
Naruto returns to the Hidden Leaf Village after two years
Konohamaru calls for Naruto's attention and uses his perfected Sexy Jutsu. Naruto only chuckles. He tells him that he's grown from the way he once was and tells Konohamaru that he shouldn't use that jutsu. A stament that makes Sakura think he's really matured. Boldly shouting, Naruto proclaims that he's developed an even more impressive perverted jutsu. It takes Sakura a second to realize what he just said, but when she does she decks him so hard he flies off a good thirty feet before he can use it. Konohamaru and friends cling to Jiraiya in fear as Sakura goes after Naruto in a rage. She pulls him from the ground and yells at the barely conscious Naruto. Angry at him for making her angry. Jiraiya notices the anger and power is equal to that of Tsunade when they were younger. As she shakes him about, Naruto thinks how she has changed. She's even more vicious.
Some time later, Naruto, Sakura, and Jiraiya meet with Tsunade at her office. She's anxious to see the outcome of his training. Naruto said it went perfectly, but she wants to see the outcome right away. She wants him to face off with someone she hasn't sent on a mission for several days. the door opens and their opponent walks in behind them. Naruto turns to see who as entered and is surprised.
Points of Interest
- The beginning events of this episode is a drastic leap forward in the Naruto continuity.
- The opening theme song of the series did not begin until 08:35 into the episode.
- Many of the reunions seen in this episode have been altered from the original manga. Kakashi was the first person to greet Naruto upon his return, Sakura heard from Tsunade that Naruto returned, and Moegi and Udon were not present when Konohamaru used the Sexy Jutsu.
