Holo Forum

There haven't been a ton of figures of Spice and Wolf's Holo, but most of them, as I recall, have been pretty good...until this one. Alphamax has created a PVC Holo where she's sitting naked and eating apples, which sounds like an instant win, and yet somehow...it's really not.
The obvious downfalls of the figure start with the very odd rib and stomach layout-- on the one hand I think they're going for realism, which is nice, but you're only going to wind up reaching that kind of angle if Holo's stomach is like...concave. It looks over-exaggerated and not very attractive.

And then there's the face. Minimal definition makes it look generic. There's a tiny nose and mouth but neither offers any expression; they're pretty devoid of any life or skill. The hair and tail are nice enough, but the fact that she's sitting ON the tail and it comes up from between her legs is...a touch weird, at best.

Nw, if this was some cheap twenty-dollar figure-- or maybe a trading figure --I wouldn't care at all. But the kicker of this piece is its price: ¥13,800, over $150 USD. Ridiculous!

There is something about the tail coming from between her legs that seems sort of undignified for Holo. Her lips are puckered as if she's biting into a lemon. For Holo I would expect more of a mischievous grin.
 
I don't see the point of making a figure character that doesn't appear much like the character it's based upon.

This would be a questionable purchase at $20-30, but $150? That's outrageous, especially when you compare it to other figures in that price range.

Something about her face turns me off.  I don't know what but, it just looks kinda goofy to me.
