  その執事、孤城  (Sono Shitsuji, Kojou)

The leader that is in charge of building the wants to stop making it because he's scared of ghosts. Ciel and Sebastian go to the construction site. They get locked into a building as another person comes by saying that he is the King of England. He introduces himself as Edward the Fifth. Sebastian starts mumbling that Edward the Fifth and his brother Richard were murdered by their relatives who wanted the throne.

He presumes their souls had returned. Sebastian introduces Ciel as the Earl. Ciel asks for forgiveness for being rude and Edward accepts it. Ciel explains that the castle belongs to his company right now despite Edward being king. Ciel offers compensation if he gets the castle back from Edward. Richard enters and says that he is fascinated by Sebastian.

Ciel and Edward start playing chess. Edward says that if he wins, he wants Sebastian as his butler but if Ciel wins, then he gets the castle. While playing chess, Edward said they should play fairly but he changed one of his knights into another piece. When Ciel says that he may not be playing fairly, Edward gets upset and says that he does not lie. Sebastian interrupts and says that Ciel does not use his pieces to their full potential and that is just his way of playing. Ciel commands Sebastian to take care of these two masters with all his heart until they are satisfied.

Edward says that Ciel is invited to play more another time if he wishes. Sebastian starts taking care of his new masters. Richard gets fascinated by all the intricities than Sebastian prepares for them. Sebastian asks if Richard wants to change before dinner and he says yes. Sebastian asks for the skull Richard is holding since he cannot change while holding it but he refuses to give it up.

Meanwhile, Ciel is reading the history of the two brothers. Edward appears in front of Ciel and he explains that he cannot think of anyting related to the day when he died. Sebastian calls everyone by ringing a gong to say that dinner is ready. Sebastian serves roasted rabbit meat with cold crab meat and shallot. Edward gives a toast to their new friendship and butler.

Ciel gets up in the middle of the night and follows Edward. He comes across a fake bookshelf and Sebastian comes over to open it. The false bookshelf leads to a place that stores bones. Edward appears in front of them and says to be careful since it has been a long time since humans set foot inside. He explains that it used to be a prison but now it’s where sinners are buried since they cannot be buried near churches. He then shows Ciel a chessboard full of skulls to remember the past.

His father is the King and his mother is the Queen. He further explains the other pieces and how they relate to his life. Ciel notices that a knight is missing. Edward explains that Richard keeps holding that skull and does not want to let it go. He also says that he wishes to see his brother leave to see god’s dwelling where there is no pain or suffering so that he can finish his chessboard. Sebastian is ordered by Ciel to retrieve the skull and move the chessboard to the main hall.

Sebastian grabs Richard and holds him up in the air; Sebastian removes the skull from Richard’s hands and he starts crying. Edward says he does not want to see his brother cry and if there was an alternative way to get the skull. Edward orders Sebastian to let Richard go. Sebastian says that Edward is a powerless king and Edward starts remembering how they were killed. Edward says that Sebastian is disobeying them but Sebastian explains that he has always been the servant of his original master and that he is not disobeying orders. Ciel says that he would have to do the ritual to send the two siblings to heaven.

Richard apologizes to Edward because the skull he has been holding is some pitiful person and that he has lied about it. Richard continues explaining that their bones were lost from the day they were killed. They both reminisce about their deaths and how their corpses were torn apart and thrown into a river. Their flesh and bones were eaten and deteriorated in that river. Edward admits that he hates lies but he has lied to himself. The siblings start disappearing and they thank Ciel and Sebastian for helping them. During the day, Ciel continues ordering the workers to finish the castle.
