1936- . Sometimes miscredited as Hiroshi Sasakawa. Born in Fukushima Prefecture he graduated from middle school and went to Tokyo, where he found work as an art assistant to Osamu Tezuka in 1956. His manga works included the original basis for Gazula the Amicable Monster, but in 1964 he left manga behind when he joined Tatsunoko Production, for which he animated Space Ace and parts of the Time Bokan series. He also wrote several science fiction novels.
