Hina Urashima is the grandmother of Keitaro Urashima, and previous owner of the Hinata-sou.
Hina was born as the daughter of Keisuke Urashima in 1934, growing up to inherit Hinata Inn from her father. She would grow up to have two daughters that later married, but one of them named Yoko would be killed in a car accident. Hina would then wind up adopting Yoko's daughter, Haruka, to live with her at the inn. She once ran the inn along with the Otohime family, but would later turn it into an all-girl's dormitory and give up temporary ownership of the inn to Haruka when she retired from being the inn's manager to go on a worldwide trip with Kanako.
Hina Urashima was created as a character for Ken Akamatsu's Love Hina manga series. There is no information known about her character's design during development of the series. Hina would make appearances in the TV anime adaptation of Love Hina, being voiced by Masako Nozawa in Japanese.
Hina was a rather short woman, having grayish hair she kept tied in a bun and brown eyes. She was normally dressed in traditional Japanese robes.
With what little is known about Hina, she was known to have an adventurous spirit as seen in the worldly ventures she took part in upon retiring from her duties as manager of Hinata Inn.
Hina had little proper appearances in the Love Hina series as she mostly had indirect roles within it as she had her grandson, Keitaro, become the manager of Hinata Inn upon learning of his appearance there and sent Kanako to fill in as temporary manager of the inn while Keitaro was away on his two-year trip with Seta.
Hina had more appearances in the anime where she recently announced her retirement from being the inn manager, whereas she had retired a year earlier in the manga. She later appeared toward the end of the TV anime to have the inn residents temporarily move out of it while she had renovations made on the inn.
