This is a recap article on manga series that were on hiatus for a long time.

Black Lagoon

It was on hiatus since May 2010. In the February 2013 issue of Sunday GX (ANN says it's January), the manga will resume on January 19 with its The Wired Red Wild Card story arc. Also, "Greenback" Janet Bhai and the introduction of People's Liberation Army hacker Li Xinlin will make another appearance.

Synopsis: Okajima Rokuro is a Japanese businessman…in a town full of Japanese businessmen. His normal day consists of social drinking with clients and being kicked around by his bosses. He finally gets a break though, as he’s sent by his company to the tropical seas of Eastern China to deliver a disc…only his boat gets hijacked by a band of mercenaries that were hired to steal it. “Rock” (as he is newly dubbed by his captors) catches the interest of the only female merc “Revy” as she thinks he’s worth a ransom, taking him hostage. However, the disc turns out to be more trouble than its worth, and complicates things both for Rock, and the mercenaries known as Black Lagoon.

Desert Punk

It was on hiatus since 2010. It will resume its run in the May issue on April 12.

Synopsis: In the future, Japan is a wasteland. In the Great Kanto Desert, scattered humans eke out a living in the hot sand. Among them, a short-statured man they call "Sunabozu" makes a living as a bounty hunter. Like a demon of the sand, he seems unbeatable. Yet, like all men, he has a particular weakness for the opposite sex...

Highschool of the Dead

It was on hiatus since January 2011 (ANN says it's March 2011). It will resume its run on April 9.

Also, the Yen Press's HOTD Omnibus 2 (full color edition)'s release date has been pushed back to Dec. 17. Its original date was October 29.

Synopsis: The world is over taken with a deadly "disease" that turns people who get bitten into the living dead. In Japan, a group of students and the school nurse stick together and try to survive the widespread chaos.

Note: I hope to see Deadman Wonderland would resume its publication someday. Oh, sorry for the bad pun.

I didn't even know HOTD was on hiatus, I just assumed it was trucking along. I started reading it after the anime ended but didn't get very far, I've been meaning to go back to it sometime.

Maybe I'll just buy the colour omnibus books instead. The first one is about £22 on Amazon.

I haven't tried Desert Punk yet, but it looks like a typical fan service show.

@Daniel_Newton:

Yeah, that happened to me after I finish the anime when recommended me to try the show back in summer of 2012.

I only read up to the part where anime ended. I stopped to wait if the anime ever pick up a second season which could be 2 more years or more.

Doesn't the HOTD anime end exactly where the manga ended? Either way i am psyched for some more zombie madness.

@katmic:

No. The anime has altered events in the manga, and the manga got farther than the anime.

The anime has Saeko and Takashi's special scenes including an implied sex scene before the Takagi Estate arc. In the manga, it was after the Takagai Estate arc.

The manga covered a new arc called Taiei Shopping Town after that arc. After that arc, it covers a few more chapters where Takashi and his gang look for their families starting with Rei's family.

For High School of the Dead fans, Yen Press has announced that they will release a digital version of the much anticipated new chapter on the same day it hits prints in Japan.
