Plot Summary

Highschool of the Dead - Vol. 2

Separated from the rest of the survivors from their high school, Takashi and Rei make their way through town, taking in the full scope of the sudden outbreak that’s turned most of the residents into undead terrors. Though the immediate threat of attack has subsided, their survival instinct is still on high alert. Among those untouched by the disease, anarchy is the only law, and when anything goes, Takashi and Rei may have to become monsters themselves if they want to stay alive.

Chapter 4: Running in the Dead.....Pg. 007

Heading off to the police station, the motorcycle almost runs out of gas, so they drive to a gas station. As they were driving, Takashi and Rei find a busted up police car. At first Rei was under the assumption that police officers would be in it, but the car is busted up as it was crashed into the front of a truck, the two officers were found dead. Rei and Takashi check out the police car to see if there were any more powerful weapons, which they end up finding a gun and some bullets. After, they continue to head for the gas station.

They make it to the gas station, but Takashi finds out the gas station is a self serve place, they need money to use the gas pump. Takashi and Rei don't have any money, so Takashi heads into the gas station to get money out of the cash register by smashing it up. Takashi comes to a realization that the chaos that has occurred allows him to do whatever he wants.

All of a sudden Rei gets held hostage by a random thug, he threatens to cut Rei's throat open with a knife. Takashi comes running in and demands the thug to let her go. The thug refuses and tells Takashi to fill up the motorcycle with gas, he then begins to leave on the bike with Rei. Takashi slowly walks up to the thug and tells the thug to let Rei go. The thug lases out at Takashi and was going to strike Takashi with the knife, but Takashi pulls the gun out and shoots the thug in the shoulder.

The thug goes down and is injured. Zombies begin to approach the gas station, The thug is then killed by the group of "THEM." Takashi and Rei hop on the motorcycle and leave with no care to what was happening to the thug.

Chapter 5: Streets of the Dead.....Pg. 039

The chapter starts off with a airplane that's about to take off from Tokonosu Airport that's litters with "THEM." Two snipers are positioned, taking down several of the zombies to make way for the plane. The manga then introduces another main character of scene, Minami Rika. Meanwhile, the five main characters, along with the surviving students from Fujima High School, in stuck in traffic.

Shidou tries to rally most of the students into some "religious cult," which most of the students follows Shidou's leadership. Takagi sees how Shidou is able to get the students to follow under his leadership, see explains that if people can't handle the situation, they will blindly follow anybody who has a handle of the situation.

After, we see Takashi and Rei on motorcycle trying to get to the police station and meet up with the others. They see a group of people in a violent mood, killing anybody they see. They see Takashi and Rei and one of the people of the violent mob attempts to fire his shotgun at Takashi and Rei, but they manage to get away from the violent mob. They make it to Tokonosu Bridge, but it is packed with civilians trying to get through, but it is to no use as the police is blocking the way. So Takashi and Rei try to use of Onbetsu Bridge.

The other main characters decide to leave the bus and Shidou and his newly formed "cult." Shidou lets them leave, but not Marikawa mainly due to the fact that her nursing skills are of good use to Shidou and his group. Hirano fires his nailgun at Shidou and lashes out at Shidou about how much of a careless teacher he is. They then leave bus and head for Onbetsu Bridge. As they head towards their locations, they see Takashi and Rei, they finally reunite.

They explains their plains about what they're going to do next. But Marikawa suggest that they should rest at her friend's apartment, which is not too far off. As they get to the apartment, they see several of "THEM" surrounding the apartment. Takashi, Rei, and Busujima take them out, and rest up for the night.

Chapter 6: In the Dead of the Night.....Pg. 073

After taking shelter in Rika's house, Takashi and Kohta unlock her secret stash of possibly illegal weaponry. The news reports talk about reaction from around the world to the appearance of "THEM," a group of leftist protesters loudly complains that the threat is made up, and the police are struggling to keep order when they eventually decide to shoot both "THEM" and some of the protesters. Back in the house, some of the girls have gotten drunk off of booze they found.
