When the hapless 2nd year student Issei Hyoudou is killed on his first date by his new girlfriend, he is reincarnated as the servant of the beautiful Rias Gremory, a powerful devil who is tasked with dealing with fallen angels that are sent to eradicate dangerous "divine" weapons on Earth.
Origin
High School DxD was created and written by Ishibumi Ichiei, with the artwork and illustrations done by Mishima Hiroji. They have worked on the light novel and are now working on the manga. In January 2012, the anime adaptation of the High School DxD light novel/manga began airing as part of the 2012 Winter Anime Season.
Light Novel
Written by Ishibumi Ichiei and illustrated by Mishima Hiroji, the High School DxD light novel first began publication in September 2008. It is currently published by Dragon Comic Age in Japan and has yet to be translated for a release in the United States or elsewhere.
Manga
The manga adaptation of High School DxD began publication in 2011 by Dragon Age.
Anime
The anime adaptation of Highschool DxD was produced by Genco, Inc and Studio TNK, directed by Tetsuya Yanagisawa. It premiered on January 6th, 2012 as part of the 2012 Winter Anime Season.
