Hideki is a 19 year old who is studying at a cram school to get into University . He desires a persecom and one night he finds Chi in the trash. He is the protagonist of chobits.
Upon finding chi Hideki picks her up and carries her into his appartment, little does Hideki know Chi's memory disk was dropped behind in the trash pile where he found her.
After taking a quick second to get a grasp on the sittuation, Hideki begins searching for Chi's ON switch, after poking every place he can see he gets the sickening (to him) idea of her switch being somewhere on the lower part of chi's body.
Hideki pokes inside and Chi comes online.
