A hot-headed, lower class Taraak boy who aspires for more out of life than his social class can give him.
Hibiki eventually gets what he wants when he becomes in of three other men to serve the female space pirates of the Nirvana. He develops a good deal of skill piloting the Vanguard (the fighting mechs used by his home planet's military), which the crew uses to their advantage numerous time in combat.
Though naturally phobic of women, at first, he develops close friendships with them and even a romantic bond with Dita. His Vanguard can combine with the dreads (fighter jets used by the Mejare women) of Dita, Jura and Meia in order to become a Vandread, or all three to become the super Vandread in order to gain the upper hand in battle.
Largely unknown throughout most of the series is that he is the son of the King of Taraak and Queen of Mejare (The two waring planets of men and women) and that his youth is a product of cryogenic suspension, as was with Misty.
He is the main character in both the aniome and manga of Vandread.
