Countries are personified as bishounen and bishoujo, and live out crazy adventures.
Hetalia is based off of the web comic by Hidekaz Himaruya. It continues the story that was left off in the first season. Hetalia is essentially about personified countries. It mainly focuses of the Axis Powers of WW2, and their crazy adventures, but in this second season the time line is ignored a lot more, and the focus is shifted to the other countries. Many more countries are introduced, such as Canada and many of the other Baltic States.
Germany and Japan are often called to fix the 'pasta-loving-fool' Italy's, mistakes. But no matter how much trouble Italy gets into, his friends are always there to rescue him from the clutches of the Allied powers. The second season continues to touch briefly on the Chibitalia story arc, and begins to introduce new countries, or expand on old ones (Like Russia and his sisters). The second season also begins to drift farther away from WW2 and begins to move to other points in history, which eventually lead to the third season and it's name change (Hetalia: World Series) so it could introduce more characters and parody other moments in history.
