Death

Hayate was the first person in konoha to discover about the secret invasion, between the sound and the sand, finding out when he was spying on Baki and Kabuto, overhearing their conversation. This act would lead to Hayate’s death. Kabuto and Baki realized they were being spied on and Kabuto offered to kill Hayate but Baki said he would take care of Hayate himself. Hayate tried to get the information back to Konoha but he was stopped by Baki and engaged in a fight. Hayate tried to kill Baki but his attack failed. Baki then kills Hayate with the Blade of Wind. Hayate is later found by his lover Yugao Uzuki and an ANBU squad who vows to avenge his death.

Abilities

Hayate’s abilities were never shown in full but Baki commented on Hayate’s skill with a blade and that the village had talented ninja, because Hayate was able to master an A-Rank technique at such a young age. This technique is called Dance of the Crescent Moon. This technique creates three additional clones that charge at the opponent in a pattern, to confuse them while the real one attacks from a blind spot above the opponent. Hayate managed to connect with this attack but failed to kill Baki. Hayate has also demonstrated incredible speed when he was able to stop Neji from killing Hinata along with the other jonin. Hayate has also displayed the ability to perform back flips with little difficulty.
