Haiyore! Nyaruko-san

Overview

Inspired by H.P.Lovecraft and his Cthulhu mythos, Haiyore! Nyaruko-san is comedy series that started as light novel written by Manta Aisora and illustrated by Koin. Haiyore! Nyaruko-san contain many jokes and parodies from popular animes and super hero shows, such as Kamen Rider and Super Sentai. The light novel has been published by GA Bunko which is imprint from Soft Bank. The anime adaptation began its airing in April 2012.

Plot

Mahiro Yasaka is attacked by mysterious monster one night, but gets saved by Nyarlathotep. Nyarlathotep explains that gods and monsters from H.P.Lovecraft's works are actually races of aliens, and she is sent to Earth to protect Mahiro from being kidnapped by alien trafficker.

Characters

Mahiro Yasaka

Main character of series, who gets attacked by aliens constantly. Ever since his encounter with Nyarlathotep, he's been under her protection 24/7.

Yoriko Yasaka

Mahiro's mother who is an expert in both video games and monster hunting.

Nyarlathotep/Nyaruko

Kamen Rider pose

Employed by Space Defence Agency, Nyarlathotep or Nyaruko for short, was sent to protect Mahiro. In truth she fell in love in her first sight, and that is why she chose to take the job of protecting Mahiro Yasaka. According to H.P.Lovecraft, Nyarlathotep is a formless demon who can change its shape, and she admits of such ability. When Mahiro asked her about her other forms, she says she can do it but at cost of Mahiro's sanity. She is an otaku and huge fan of shows like Kamen Rider and Mobile Suit Gundam.

Cthugha/Kuuko

Slacker and gamer

Another alien being who is madly in love with Nyaruko, despite her alien race is enemy of Nyaruko's race. Claiming that she is Nyaruko's wife, Kuuko gets in Nyaruko's way whenever she is trying to make love with Mahiro. According to H.P.Lovecraft, Cthugha is living flame, and as such she is covered with flame in her true form.

Hastur/Hasuta

Boy with maiden's heart

Elementary schoolmate of Kuuko and Nyaruko, Hastur is a male alien with power to control wind. He was sent to Earth to get Yoriko as favor of his father, with little bit of misunderstanding. Turns out his father was president of video game company and just wanted Yoriko's expert opinion, but Hasuta thought it was part of important mission to save galaxy. After completing his mission, he decides to stay, hoping to get closer to Mahiro.
