A Gunzar-model Gunmen taken over and piloted by the human Kamina, the Gurren eventually unites with Simon's Lagann to form the Gurren-Lagann, an extremely powerful two-pilot Gunman. The name Gurren (紅蓮) can also translate to Crimson Lotus.
After Kamina's death, Rossiu Adai takes over as Gurren's Pilot.
The Gurren(-Lagann) eventually becomes the primary model for the Grapearl line of Gunmen.
