Funny thing about that Yoko picture is the fact that she only wears one sleeve on the show (on her left arm). Makes me wonder why though...

Yeah its amazing (In my opinion) how much ground this anime covers in just 27 episodes so its definatly worth finishing :D

For everyone complaining about the show being silly, doesn't commom sense tell you that's the point. Why did you come into this show looking for  Gundam or Evangelion?

I think out of most animes out there Gurren Lagann covers both sides of the coin. Compelling story line and great comedy.
On a side note, does anyone know if the movies are worth watching? I heard they are just re tellings of the series but do they introduce anything new?

I loved this anime when it premiered on SyFy's AniMonday block. It is beautifully designed and the plot-line is rather unique, I thought. It has something thought provoking and deep about it.  Coupled with a gorgeous soundtrack, it has to be one of my favorite animes to date.

I really wanted to read along with this series with these articles, but I seriously can't stand the dub work on this. I also can't find an official source with the subtitled version.

Guys, PLEASE STOP hinting at stuff. A surprise isn't a surprise anymore if you all talk about it. Part of the fun is that you don't know it's coming. You've effectively ruined half the stunt.

But...I will say that the love-triangle does proceed interestingly from this point on. So everybody zip your lips now.

To anyone who hasn't started watching yet, start with ep. 1 right now. Yes, this anime is crazy, but is definitely worth watching. I think I've gone through almost every emotion possible while watching it. It's quite amazing.

And yeah, the dub is pretty crappy IMO, so pick up the sub from somewhere. The Japanese cast is brilliant, especially the two leads.

What? Staring at a picture of Yoko? Of course, she pretty attractive. By the way, there aren't any subs unless you preferring to fansubs by file sharing and downloading from fansub sites because they are not cool. They hurt the creator and the anime industry's honor, creativity, and profit. Even if you download fansubs of Gurren Lagann for your own personal and/or private use, even if it's for non-profit, it's a felony crime.

@Jtaylor83: ...let's not get into this...but in this case...I think an exception is in order. That's how brilliant the Japanese is. To be honest, he's gonna have to buy the DVD's for this one when all is said and done anyway, but baring that...no, fansubs aren't good for the creators (kids would argue they are in-fact cool though ;)  ), but I think it works out here since he's watching the dub anyway...they're getting his minimal shared ad revenue from YouTube for that same episode already. If you're speaking on-principle, that's fine; that's your opinion. But from a practical standpoint, I think he's just in downloading a fansub of one episode just to see the original at-work. Heck...if we really want to go meta in practicality, the show's getting more PR from this column than he'd be taking from them even if he downloaded the entire show in subs 10x over.

Plus...and I hesitate to say this, but the legality argument holds little weight now adays. Just because something's not legal doesn't mean it's wrong. It's true, fansubs are no good for the creators, but the legality argument is convoluted at-best, and holds no weight to most people under the age of 30 who grew up on the "wrong" side of the digital law. But that's a debate for another time and place. Don't be trollin' now.
