Overview

Hello Vice! First I`d like to wish you all happy holidays. Welcome to this week`s joint Guilty Crown report, which will encompass both episodes 10 and 11. Lots of plot developments occurred during these two action-packed episodes, and now it`s time for you to share your thoughts on the series`progress. Now without further ado, I present you with this week`s GC report.

Plot

Episode 10 - Retraction: 縮退 Shukutai

After the horrendous events that took place during his battle with Jun, Shu is currently traumatized by his surroundings. Bombarded by flashbacks, Shu reaches his limits and decides to quit Undertaker, and begins to avoid those around him. In the meantime, Gai and the rest of the Undertakers are engaged in a mission to retrieve "the rock that started it all". Will the Undertaker's be able to complete the mission without The King's Power on their side? And what exactly does GHQ's Major Segaihave under his sleeve?

Episode 11 - Resonance: 共鳴 Kyōmei

GHQ's in a sea of blood, and Tokyo city is resonating with an eerie song bringing chaos to the Japanese people. The Apocalypse Virus is spreading in a cancerous rate, instantly crystallizing all of it's victims. Shu is finally starting to see the consequences of his lack of action; will he finally realize the truth of friendship and pull his act together?

Verdict

Good

Episode 10:

Inori`s feelings towards Shu are finally exposed during this episode! Interestingly, Gai doesn`t seem very pleased with her realization.

We learn more about Hare and her relationship with Shu.

Episode 11:

Shu finally learns what it means to have friends and to trust them

Shu, who has always compared himself to Gsi, realizes that he should do things his own way,

Bad

Episode 10:

One thing I HATED about this episode was when Shu started hitting on Hare when he was being all emo. If any of you readers watched Code Geass R2, there is a point in the series where Lelouch (the main character) is depressed, and wants to be comforted by one of the female characters. Here is the link of that Code Geass clip if you are interested in comparing it to this Guilty Crown episode.(no major plot spoilers are presented in the clip) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdAdMMwxRSY

Episode 11:

I don`t think there was anything bad during the 11th episode, other than the fact that it ended with such a BIG cliffhanger, which ticked me off.

Points of Interest

Episode 10:

While Gai and the head of the Kuhouin group were conversing, on Kuhouin`s desk, there is a volume of all the information on Gai which his group investigated. There is a photo that sticks out from the volume, which seems to be the other half of the photo seen at the end of episode 7:

Ending twist: Shu and Inori are seen walking away from one another, which fits the events that happened during the episode

Episode 11:

The mystery pink-haired girl seems to be called "Mana". She also seems to be trapped in a pink crystal.

Hare's Void is demonstrated during this episode. Her Void are bandages that heal

Mystery Wielder of "The King&squot;s Power"
Mystery Wielder of "The King's Power"

Another character with "The King's Power" appears at the end of the episode.

Ending Twist: This time it doesn't include Inori, but concept arts of "Mana" ; one in a school uniform and another of her holding out a gift.

Thanks!

Wow, I'm finally caught up with your reports! Damn holidays left me no time for the finer things in life.

I had a big problem with the way eps. 11 ended. Your "Mystery Wielder of The King's Power" (as you put it) just appears from a fold in time space, does her business and left with Inori. My question is how did she put off this trick? Lucy, you got alot of splaning to do.

Also, I been reading a whole bunch of negative comments about this series. Most of them are centered around the main character Shu and the fact he is a pussy. I would not expect anyone who is given such power to suddenly go from mild mannered High School student to Superman, for any reason. My problem however is a kind of extension of this, why is it he is a pussy except when he holds a void? In mission, he refuses to use a firearm for fear of hurting someone, but the same nanosecond he get a void in his hand, he gets transformed into Captain Fearless the Supersoldier, more than willing and able to fell whole armies with one mighty swat, regardless of how many of the same exact people he was too afraid to hurt before he got the void in his hands, get killed. I hope they explain this as well in some point in the series, not that it's a deal killer for me, but it is a plot inconsistency none the less.

I just finished episode 10's wiki page and watching it. It was great and dreadful episode at the same time. God, talk about traumatic war experiences. Kuro, I agree with you. Hare is no substitute for Inori. (For shame Shu)

It reminds of Spiderman who got yelled at by a brother of the girl he loved. "My sister is no substitute for you."

@lordbane666:

I hear you about Shu. That Void is like a bravery pill because when you got something strong, you believe in yourself. A good show should have some great character evolution. Sadly, Shu's could be delayed. I keep comparing Shu to Emiya and Gai to Archer from Fate Stay Night. Gai and Archer are cool guys who gets the job done. Shu and Emiya are noobs who can't fight well at first. In Emiya's case, he is more braver than Shu. This episode is a love or hate.

The other thing I don't like is that people keep comparing Guilty Crown to Code Geass and calling GC a a rip off. I haven't watch it, but they should keep watching. It's only one character.

I'll get to your question about episode 11 as soon as I watched it.

Episode 11 was way better than 10. I think the staff did this on purpose. Makes us see Shu at his wimpiest moments and then he shines in the next episode.

It's way better than the last episodes. Too much ecchi and not enough epic moments.

I have no explanations for the mystery guy/ girl. I always thought Shu is the only one who can use Voids. If you have genomes, genomes can replicate like how DNA does it. There's going to be fight between two guys for the "crown."

My Favorite Moment

Shu confesses that he used his friends and felt "guilty." We get to see where the title came from (well, it was spoiled in that New York Comic Con Panel).

Edit:

I finished ep. 10 and 11 wiki pages, partner.

@lordbane666:

Sorry for the late reply, I was gone for the past two weeks

I think that the "mystery wielder" has one of the three genomes that were produced by Sephirah Genomics (recall in the second episode i believe, Gai tells Shu that the Void Genome is one of three genomes created by Sephirah Genomics.) This mystery person might have that second genome, which possibly gives them the ability to rip time and space? I'm just guessing here. We'll have to wait and see.

I also noticed the thing with Shu suddenly having a much braver character one he obtains a void. In the first episode, he seemed like he was in a trance, and he doesnt come to until he actually pulls out the void. See how his eyes change from the first two pics to the third?

I guess they'll explain more as the series progresses. Also, as Taka stated that the voids served as bravery pills, he probably feels more secure with a Void in is hand.

I agree, I enjoyed 11 more than 10. Shu FINALLY gets his act together.

Fair prediction Taka. I see a potential fight between these two characters coming up soon, especially how they both have the power to face one another toe to toe.

Agreed! They finally tied the anime to the name of the series! Now those who havent checked out the panel can make the connection. My favorite part of this episode was when Shu and Yahiro had their little truce, and how Yahiro said that he wouldnt have been able to go so far if Jun wasnt there to need him.

Great job with the episode pages partner! Much appreciated :)

EDIT: and sweet end cards! Love the illustrations! :D And thanks for sharing that wallpaper, very nice!
