Overview

Hello Vicers! Welcome to the sixth edition of KuroNekoXIII's Weekly Guilty Crown Report. I apologize again for the delay, my school-life was very demanding this week, and I had to write up a lot of lab reports which take up a lot of time. Anyways, enough about me, let's get back on track with Guilty Crown!

Plot

Leukocytes: 檻 Ori

After an unexpected turn of events, Funeral Parlor, aka Undertaker, are forced to carry out their attack plan against the Leucocyte, despite their major loss in troops.Shu, who is a vital part of the attack plan, decides to pull out of the mission without any prior notice. What will be Undertaker's next step? And will Shu change his mind after he learns more about Gai and how he really thinks and feels?

Verdict

Good

Troubled Gai
Troubled Gai

This episode was amazing. There was so much depth to it, so many “take-home” lessons. This is, by far, my favorite released episode of the series.

We learn a little more about Gai, and the burdens and stresses he has as being Undertaker’s leader. Shu has definitely shown a lot of character growth during this episode.

A nice piano track was played during Gai’s monologue. I couldn’t get the name of it since the soundtrack hasn’t been released yet. The track was an orchestral version of the song played when Shu first uses his “King’s Power” during the first episode.

Mystery Pink-Haired Girl
Mystery Pink-Haired Girl

The mysterious pink-haired girl made another appearance. I get the feeling she will be making more appearances as the story progresses.

Bad

The episode was good overall, and I couldn't really think of any bad points. These are a couple that I had to squeeze out of my brain:

Leukocyte
Leukocyte

There wasn’t much development in the Inori – Shu relationship (although I didn’t find this a bad point since there was a lot of focus on that the past episodes)

I had to do a little extra research on Quasi-Zenith Satellites to get a full grasp on what the Leucocyte is supposed to be. Maybe the producers of the anime could do a better job with explaining things thoroughly; especially for those who aren’t into science and technology (or maybe I’m just a slow interpreter…).

Points of Interest

There was a change in the opening track. Usually, it had Inori facing her own reflection, but this time, it was Inori facing the mysterious pink-haired girl.

Gai’s cross seems to be very special to him. Now that we learned that, the fact that Gai is holding his cross in this original art piece holds more significance.

The word "Leukocyte" means "white blood cells", which are the cells that do all the fighting in our immune system. It makes sense that the satellite which will be used offensively be called that.

Inori had a different Void pulled out of her during this episode.

End theme twist
End theme twist

In the ending theme, we see Gai and Shu practically walking side by side, and Inori walking behind them. It mirrors the events of the episode since the main focus was on Gai and Shu’s relationship development.

Lessons

The saying “never judge a book by its cover” doesn’t necessarily have to be about books; it can be related to people as well. Never judge people by their appearances and who you think they are; people are much deeper than that.

Thanks!

There were lots of things that i want to talk about during this episode's report, but I restrained myself. My report was going to be much longer than this, but I cut it short so you guys can bring forth your ideas as well.

I'd like to thank my team mates of W.I.K.I Nation for giving me the support during my stressful school-life, and I'd like to give a special thanks to the staff members that decided to put my "Guilty Crown Weekly Report: Ep 5 - A Preparation" report on the Anime to Get Hooked On section on the front page of the site. It means a lot, so thank you!

@KuroNekoXIII:

Sorry for the wrong episode number, Sket Dance should be episode 33. (Use this link here) I fixed on my weekly reports.

Be sure to link characters on your blog because people tend to wiki binge on characters and don't check out the franchise or the anime page. We want everyone to see it. I'll PM Perry to have your blog posted on the front news. Cool!

I have been following this series and I'm up to esp. 8. Takashichea told me about your blog on this series and it's cool, but I would like to add a few points. The unrequited love story between Shu and Inori is what sparks Shu's jealously of Gia, who is the focus of Inori's love. That and the fact that everyone in the organization loves Gia and would follow him to the gates of hell has something to do with it, but the fact Inori was told by Gia to act as if she was interested in Shu (another words, she lead Shu on), and the fact she is sleeping with him had more to do with Shu's growing dislike of Gai. It was Gai's melodramatic confession of self doubt overheard by Shu that reversed Shu's opinion of Gia, taking him off the pedestal he was on and making him human in Shu's eyes. I am getting annoyed with the two evil witches (Ayase and Tsugumi) who give Shu a ton of crap every time he opens his heart about Inori. I guess it's ok (in there eyes) that a grown man is sleeping with a 14 year old girl, but some her own age innocently falls in love with her, especially after she lead him on, is a bad thing to them. I hope they both die soon, I can't stand "poor Miss Wheel chair" who put Shu in the hospital just for doubting her, and "Look at me, 14 years old wearing a stupid catsuit with my naked ass sticking out, dancing about a holographic sphere while I pretend to contribute", I can't stand either one of them.

Thanks for your comment! I'm a bit behind with my reports, I'll have episodes 7 and 8 up soon :)

I'm totally with you on that one. That was the exact feeling I got while watching the episode. Also the fact that Gai used the same words as Shu, the "Is it really okay for me to be this way", just made Shu notice that Gai too goes through the same stresses as other people do.

I don't really mind Ayase and Tsugumi that much, since they don't have that much screen-time anyways. I feel that they created those two characters to add more character variety, you know? And the catsuit thing is awkward IMO, but I guess it attracts fans with a thing for cat ears and that sort of stuff (which I'm not that into....). What really grosses me out is how they put a lot of attention on Tsugumi's backside. Its as you said, she's 14 which is pretty young. It's sick to think their using her as a source of fanservice; but that's only my opinion.

It was nice hearing your opinion, hope to see you around on the GC forums!

@lordbane666:

Awesome feedback! Glad to see you here. I hate Ayase, too.

I'm getting curious about a grown man sleeping with a 14 year old girl here. However, I haven't watch the episode.

@KuroNekoXIII:

Hope your knee injury is getting better. I'm in the same situation with the weekly reports. I have to combine 2 episodes for Fairy Tail and Sket Dance. I got one more lab final on Friday, so I have to combine Sket Dance. I will comment on this episode. That's what teammates are for!

By the way, I found these images of Inori and mystery pink haired girl when surfing on Google for official art yesterday.

Did I tell Team W.I.K.I. Nation to brainstorm on funny captions? I was inspired by a picture on Fandom post. We should experiment on having a funny caption a week. (for us, it would be two weeks).

Fandom's Funny Caption of the week
Fandom's Funny Caption of the week

It could be like this or we just insert caption under the image.

God, we're almost done with school! I'm so looking forward to winter break.

@takashichea:

Thanks man! Yea, I'm on my road to recovery :) I can walk on it now without it hurting so I think it's getting better :P Yea, I need to combine my GC reports as well. Hope your lab final went well today.

Yea! I noticed the same pattern. I think that image was a screenshot of the first episode.

Oh! That funny caption is an amazing idea! I remember that in some of the kid's magazines I used to read when I was younger, they had a feature were readers could insert a funny line in a speech bubble and they would publish the funniest one. It would be cool if we had something like that for the Vice :)

Yea, we're almost there! Then a whole fresh start starting January :D

@takashichea: @lordbane666:

I came across a piano fan cover for the track that I mentioned during the report by a YouTube user. It sparked my interest, so I thought I'd share it with you guys.

(I know you haven't watched the 6th episode yet Taka, but keep an ear out for the track once it plays when you watch it)

  • The beginning of this piece was played during the fifth episode, when Inori and Gai were together in his room:
  • This was the piano version of the track used during this episode (violins havent been included like they have during the episode).

I hated Gai in this episode. To put someone out of their misery is not needed for this situation. I didn't see her eyes or maybe she was blinded by shrapnel.

Edit:

I will have to add those opening changes for the Points of Interests on the ep. 6's wiki page. Kuro, why don't you do it? Your eyes are pretty sharper than mine.

@takashichea:

Yea, I dont agree with what Gai did, he should`ve at least tried to save her.

Thanks dude! Sounds like a plan! I`ll post them onto the episode page :)
