History
Little is known of Gourry's past, as he doesn't talk about it much, and this is perhaps forgiven because Gourry tends not to have very much to say. He has made reference to a grandmother and a brother with whom he is on bad terms; he also stole the Sword of Light and ran away. He eventually met a young Lina and appointed himself her bodyguard, and the two have been thick as thieves ever since. The two have a mildly romantic relationship at times, though Lina is too immature to convey her feelings, and Gourry is, well, too dumb to have figured them out.
Personality
Generally thought of as more brawn than brains, Gourry's role in the story usually involves comic relief and aid in battle. He is probably the least developed of the primary Slayers characters (even in comparison to Xellos, who probably has less overall presence in the main party). However dim he might be, Gourry is generally a good person and will even occasionally object to Lina's harsher tendencies...though he often follows it up with a blunt reference to her small breast, receiving a smack or a fireball spell in return. Have we mentioned that he's not very bright?
