Gosunkugi meets the Salesman.

Gosunkugi, in one of his attempts to get Akane's attention, encounters a travelling salesman selling magical items. The salesman offers him Paper dolls, which when an order is written on them and placed on someone's back, they follow that order. After buying them for ¥5000, he tests one on Ranma at school, ordering him to trip and fall. Although Ranma does fall, the doll was obliterated in the ground, making Gosunkugi unsure if it worked. He tries it again on Ranma later, making him fall down stairs and crash into a statue, following the order of "Get hurt right now!"

He then tries in the library to use it on Akane, ordering her to go out with him. however, it accidentally lands on Kuno, who thinks he wants to bout with him, and attacks Gosunkugi with his sword. eventually, he sucessfully manages to place one on Akane's back, asking her to date him the next day.

Ranma notices Gosunkugi talking about him dating Akane, and decides to investigate. disguised in girl form, Ranma pretends to have a stomach ache, and gets him to bring her to the park. Ranma then sees the paper dolls, and manages to know what they are, and uses one on Gosunguki to make him run away.

Now aware of the paper dolls, he tries to remove the one from Akane's uniform. when Gosunguki reaches school to ask about the date, Akane thinks that it is the day after, as was written on the paper. Ranma manages to remove it as Akane walked through the door, and confronts Gosunguki with it. however, he manages to escape, and with his last doll, he manages to attach it to Akane. however, in the rush, he wrote "please don't hate me" on it, using it up and failing to make Akane fall in love with him.
