nope, the pipe is just a habit. she smokes it in the manga, tho. if you're gonna watch it, its probably best to start with episode 4, since that's where the manga starts. you could watch episode 1 to get introduced with the characters, but the forst 3 episodes feel very shallow. when it picks up the manga, it gets really good.

@AURON570: yea, Im going to do a anylasis blog of the series on the weekend, so hopefully I'll get featured and I can go into a lot of detail about the pros and cons of the series.
