Gon Freecs

Origin

Gon Freecs was born on Whale Island. He live with his aunt, Mito and aiming to be a pro Hunter to find his father, Ging Freecs. During the Exam, he met some fellow applicants like, Kurapica, Leorio, and Killua. Gon set out on an adventure and face many experience and mysteries.

Creation

Gon was illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi. Togashi stated that Son Goku of Dragon Ball series is being the key to created Gon Freecs as both share similar trait, which being energetic and may seems to appear as a goof character at a time. He also has certain similarities to that Yusuke Urameshi of YuYu Hakusho, a protagonist of Togashi's previous Manga.

He was voiced by Junko Takeuchi in the Japanese Dub, while Elinor Holt in English Dub. He made his first debut on Hunter X Hunter Episode #01 and in the Manga Ch.#01.

In the 2011 version, Megumi Han replacing Junko Takeuchi as the voice actress.

Character Evolution

Gon is a twelve years old boy. He has a black spiky hair with green tips. He wore a green leather jacket over a black tank top. He also wore green shorts and green laced boots.

Gon is an energetic boy who has super smelling ability. He also described to be a wild type as he has a great strength and full of energy. Gon and Killua are pretty much the same, as both always seems to full energy every time. Unlike Killua, Gon is a much polite, soft, and never intend to look for trouble.

Major Story Arcs

Pre Hunter Exam Arc

Gon is a boy who live on Whale Island. One day he heard about his father is still alive from his father's student, a professional hunter named Kite. Gon is willing to do everything to make his aunt, Mito, agree with him to let him take the exam. So he grab his fishing pole and caught a big fish. Mito agreed and let Gon leave.

Gon has set out by taking the ship to go to the exam port. While on the way, he met fellow applicants, Leorio and Kurapika. When the ship facing a great storm in the middle of the sea, Gon was decided to help out the captain to save some property and take things under control, while Leorio and Kurapika are on a duel because of Leorio's words about the Kurta Clan.

When the waves are getting stronger, one of the crew of the ship has fall to the sea. When Kurapika and Leorio saw him, they tried to save him, although they didn't manage to grab him, while Gon jumped through and manage to save him, with both Leorio and Kurapika catch Gon's feet.

Power and Abilities

Gon is a Nen User. He is an Enhancer Type, which give him strengths and recuperative abilities. Gon has a Hatsu Ability that called Jajanken, based on Japanese Rock-Scissor-Paper game. His technique is named during his fight with Knuckle, as he was actually have no idea what to call it, he was a bit confused as he says "Ja-jan-ken".

Gon Freecs is being a playable character on certain Video Games on various consoles such as PS, PS2, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, and Wonder Swan.

Gon also being a playable character on two NDS Fighting Games, Jump Super Stars and Jump Ultimate Stars.
