Gommu is a homeless vagabond who lives in the tunnels of Republic City.


Gummo is a nonbending human who is a member of the homeless in Republic City. He lives in the tunnels under the city along with many others in their own small community.

Gommu is a supporting character in the Avatar series created by Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino. Avatar: The Legend of Korra is the direct sequel to the original 2005 Avatar: The Last Airbender. It first began airing on April 14, 2012 on Nickelodeon.

His first appearance was in Avatar: The Legend of Korra - Episode 1 "Welcome to Republic City". His character is voiced by Stephen Root.

Major Story Arcs

Book One

Gommu met Avatar Korra in Republic City soon after her arrival as she was cooking fish from the city lake for herself and her polar bear dog, Naga. She kindly game him one, but they were chased away by a police officer.

Gommu was able to help Korra later as she had to go int hiding when the Equalist leader Amon had staged a massive takeover of Republic City. Korra and her friends stayed with Gommu's fellow homeless in the tunnels under the city. Later, he helped again by transmitting an urgent message to the United Forces Navy for General Iroh.

Powers & Abilities

Gommu is a human with no special powers. He does have a knowledge of the tunnels underneath Republic City, and he has equipment to transmit messages through Morris Code.
