Tale of the Pirate King Gol D. Roger was the man who became the first great Pirate King. He was born on the island Loguetown in the East Blue. He was the first to conquer the Grand Line by reaching the final island Raftel. In so doing also discovered the secret of the world's missing history through the Rio Poneglyph.
True Name The World Government actually created the name of "Gold Roger" for the man who was known as the King of the Pirates. This is actually not his true name. Oddly enough, his true real name is Gol D. Roger.
4 More Years Unknown to most of the world. Gol Roger was suffering from an incurable illness for the last four years of his life. To alleviate his pain the crew took on a doctor from the Twin Peeks of Reverse Mountain, Crocus. He joined Roger's crew to look for a pirate crew that had left a whale Laboon in his care and had yet to return.
Near the final year of his life, Roger met with his first mate, Rayleigh; and tell him that he was turning himself into the Marines. He told his partner not to worry. That he wouldn't die. The crew was disbanded and the members scattered across the world.
The final words
He was quickly arrested, but the World Government made claims that they had captured Roger and his whole crew. While in captivity he talked in secret with the marine hero that had been chasing him for years, Monkey D. Garp. He had actually had a favor to ask of his captor. It was to save the life of his yet to be born son. The World Government and Marines were hunting her down to kill her and any offspring Roger had. Though Garp refused openly. He did save the mother and child. Roger's son was named Ace. His mother died soon after the birth. Garp took the child in as his own blood.
Gol Roger was brought back to the island of his birth, Loguetown, for his public execution. Before the crowd he didn't appear to be a beaten down pirate. His head was high and he walked through the streets as if he was a conquering hero brought home. Even when he was brought to the gallows he smile broadly. The intention of the World Government was to use his execution as a warning to scare off anyone with the will to be a pirate.
Before the blades of his executioners were ready to fall upon him, someone in the crowd shouted to know where did he hide his greatest treasure, One Piece. Still smiling, Gol Roger gave his final words.
" My treasure? If you want it, you can have it! Find It! I left everything this world has to offer 'there'! "
Gol D. Roger
The swords fell, the great Pirate King was dead, but that great, proud smile remained. Rather then his death scaring off the dreams of piracy in the world. Roger's last words was the cause of what would be know as The Great Pirate Era.
The Will of D.
