Convenient Censorship such as steam, hair and beams of light are often used in anime and manga to show naked characters while obscuring their "naughty bits".

The practice of dressing like characters from anime, manga, video games, and even novels, TV shows, celebrities, etc.

A concept where several characters from different, separate stories and series meet up.

Prearranged fight with two people. It is used in order to settle a quarrel over a point of honor.

Eyecatch

Eyecatches are short scenes or illustrations used to begin and end a commercial break in anime.

Flashback

Used frequently in Anime to either recap past events or provide a back story for a character, either their origin story or their off-screen training of new attack. Sometime and entire episode/chapter would be a entire flashback.

Funeral

The Funeral is the act of a burial after a death. Friends and family gather to morn as the body is placed into the ground, or pass along condolences to surviving family.

Ghosts

A ghost is a dead persons spirit that roams the earth usually attached to where they died or refusing to go to the after life until there are finished on earth.

King's Game

The King's Game is a popular party-dare game played using chopsticks.

Lecher

Characters who exercise their strong libidinous desires in unwholesome ways, such as peeping on the objects of their desire, making inappropriate comments, stealing underwear etc. Though typically middle-aged or elderly men with a penchant for young girls, there are probably a few dirty old women out there.

A religious person who lives either alone or in a holy place sutch as a temple or a church. Most of them tries to avoid worldy pleasures and to bring good to the world.

A Japanese gaming machine that's vaguely a cross between pinball and a slot machine, used for casual gambling. The basic concept is that you buy small metal balls that you play in the machine in attempts to win more of them, which you can trade in for money or prizes.

Parody

Parody is a style of work that closely resembles or mocks preexisting material or genres for comedic effect.

Something that serves as a pet or behaves in the manner of one.

The Police are a form of law enforcement officers that work on the local levels. Uniforms are normally in either blue or black.

Pop Idols in Japan are classically females in their teens to early twenties. Not only are they singers, but they can also be models and general media personalities.

Potential Love Interest

The character has a chance of ending up with the protagonist. It means either the protagonist or the heroine(or maybe both) have feelings for the other.

Revenge

When someone returns an cruel favor to another after what has been done to them or an loved one.

Rivals are competitor to someone. Unlike an enemy, rivals could have similar goals but disagree on the process.

Literally means "boy" in Japanese, but is also used to refer to Japan's biggest manga demographic: pre-teen and teenage boys.

Anime has long been known for having many strong male protagonist and depicting women as being weaker and in need of protection, but there are many female characters out there fighting this stereotype. These are women who possess strength not just physically but mentally and emotionally as well and are often the heroes of a series.

Thieves and con artists are people who take objects of value from others by theft or trickery.

Time Skip

When a series jumps several months or even several years. Usually used in series staring younger kids and it resumes when they're teenagers or even adults.

Unreal Hair/Eye Color

A popular design choice for characters in anime is to give them natural hair and/or eye colors that do not occur in real nature.
