Gintama Forum

I've tried on multiple occasions to watch it and it's just so boring.  The plot is uninteresting, the characters are boring ripoffs of better characters in better series, and while I can tell that care was taken in the animation, the whole thing is just uninspired.  Is it like Hitman Reborn where it's terrible up to episode 20 or so, or is there just some weird thing I'm not seeing?  Mainly, I'm just trying to figure out if it's eventually going to be worth investing the time to eventually catch up to the almost 200 episodes the series has gotten to.
