Ginkaku Uneri

Origin

Ginkaku is the only member of his clan that stuck around after Inaba was taken over by an ever encroaching desert. As such, he is the sole owner of the Gekoku Castle and has chosen to stay there and protect it out of pride and a desire protect something. Additionally, Ginkaku is the tenth descendant of Kinkaku Uneri, a samurai who refused to hand over his Klesha Bringer, Zantou Namakura, to the Shogun Kyuu and defeated and killed over 10,000 men to stay in possession of it.

Creation

Ginkau Uneri is a character in the Katanagatari series of light novels written by Nishio Ishin, a popular Japanese writer, with illustrations by Take. He also appears in the anime series of the same name which was created by White Fox and directed by Keitaro Motonaga. Ginkaku makes his first appearance in the anime series during Episode 2: " Blunt, the Decapitator".

Major Story Arcs

Shirasagi Maniwa arrives at Gekoku Castle to retrieve Zantou Namakura but is quickly cleaved in two by Ginkaku. Shortly after throwing his body outside of the castle, Togame and Shichika arrive to retrieve the weapon as well. Togame tries to purchase the weapon from him but is nearly killed by a surprise attack launched against her. Ready for battle, Ginkaku challenges them but Shichika decides to leave for the time being in order to come with an effective strategy.

After a few minutes of thought, Shichika and Togame return and battle against Ginkaku with Shichika being the ultimate victor.
