Kakashi meets up with the team before they enter the room where they will be taking the chuunin exam. He says that he is proud of Sakura for having the courage to come, because if she didn't then that would disqualify her teammates from entering as well. They say their final goodbyes and head through the door of no return! Past the door are about a hundred other genin of all ages hoping to pass. (95% of which are just lame extras) A few familiar faces from the very beginning of the series show up. Ino Yamanaka, Chouji, and Shikamaru meet up with Team 7, as well as Kiba, Shino, and Hinata who is as shy as ever. Their reunion is cut short by a lame looking punk named Kabuto. Nobody likes him. He tells the rookies that they should be try to be less noticeable because there are people taking the exam that could easily kill them if they got on their wrong side. Kabuto also says that this is his seventh time taking the exam. He takes out some ninja information cards that hold stats and other info on various shinobi from different villages, such as Gaara and Rock Lee.

It turns out that Gaara and fuzzy-brow are both excellent shinobi who have completed high ranking missions. Kabuto gives the rookies a run down on the background of the chuunin exams and why they are held, that is to preserve the peace between the feudal villages by substituting war with a mutual competition of skill. He refers to the village hidden in sound as inferior which ticks off the group we saw in the previous episode hanging out in the tree. The group's leader attacks Kabuto, and although he misses with his blow he somehow causes Kabuto to barf in pain. The fighting is stopped when the first exam proctor, Morino Ibiki, arrives on the scene.
